CNE French Club

 

1.     What is the French Club?

The French Club is a fun, interactive organization for all CNE students interested in the French language and culture. Everyone, no matter what the grade or ability, is welcome as long as they have the desire to explore the essence of France and participate in enjoyable activities.

 

2.   How do you become a member?

To become a French Club member, interested students can attend the sign-up meeting at the beginning of the school year or talk to Ms. Shackelford.  There are no dues or fees associated with membership.
 

3.   What kinds of activities does the French Club organize?

Over the course of the school year, the French Club organizes fun, informative activities for its members. Some of these activities are: The Table Française (French Table) to be held periodically during lunch hour,  new annual "Tour de France" ,  a petanque tournament (to be held in the Spring) , crepe, quiche, and fondue parties, movie viewings, craft sessions, holiday parties, picnics and dinners, Mardi Gras, and field trips.

 

4.   When and where are the meetings?

The French Club always announces meetings days before they are actually scheduled so that you can plan your afternoon or morning accordingly. Meetings & activities usually occur  in Mrs. Shackelford's classroom, Room 109.

 

5.   Who is the French Club advisor?
 

Mrs. Shackelford, CNE French teacher, advises French Club. She is a graduate of Bowling Green State University , with a bachelor’s  and master's degree in French.While at Bowling Green, she spent a year living with a French family and studying at the Institut de Touraine in Tours, France. She taught French 101, 102 and a cultures course while a grad student at B.G.S.U. She then attended the Graduate School of Library and Information Science at the University of Illinois, where she received a Masters in Library Science while teaching French 101. After that, she was a Librarian and Branch Manager for the Public Library of Cincinnati and Hamilton County for twenty years before coming to CNE. She is in her third  year of teaching. She lives in Harrison, Ohio, with her husband, Harold, who has been Harrison Police Chaplain and Minister at St. John United Church of Christ for more than thirty years. He is also currently the Head Chaplain of the Ohio Wing of the Civil Air Patrol.
